Eileen Mattison recently completed a long career as an Art Teacher. Eileen’s art training began in early childhood and still continues today. She is a graduate from Mansfield University where she earned a degree as an Art Teacher. She took graduate classes in Studio Art at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and completed a Master’s Degree in Education at Cambridge College in Boston, MA. Eileen has taken workshops at the Noyes Museum and many painting courses at local community colleges. Her most recent and valuable training was at Stockton University where she studied Oil Painting under Kit Sailor.
Although painting has always been a passion for Eileen, she discovered a love for pottery when she started taking classes at Cumberland County College's Clay College in the early 2000s. She prefers hand-building over wheel throwing and states, “There really is no better fun than making things from clay!”
This is Eileen’s first art exhibit. However, her watercolor painting titled “Circle Fish”, that was entered in an art show at the Ephrata Fair in 1995, won First Place and Best-of-Show.
This collections of artwork, is my beginning, my starting point. I call this style Photorealism. I like to be “up close and personal” to a painting. I want the viewer to see something past beauty; to see the beauty of the life. Along with growth comes change, and I hope to continue to learn and grow in my development as an artist.
