Teen Reading Buddies Training Tomorrow!

Teen Reading Buddies Training
            
Teens who are interested in the Reading Buddies program this July and August are required to attend this training session. Reading Buddies partners teen volunteers with children ages 6 to 10 to share a love of reading while sharpening their reading skills.

 Wednesday, June 1
5 to 6 p.m.
   Children's Event Room  
        
The reading sessions will be on Mondays beginning July 11th and ending August 15th. Teens need to be available each week for at least an hour.
 
After reviewing availability, approved volunteers will be paired with at least one child, possibly more. Applications and details about the program can be found in the Children’s Department and the Teen Room, or can be downloaded here. Applications should be filled out prior to the training meeting and brought to the meeting.
 
Teens must be ages 13-18 and have completed 7th grade by July 1st to participate in Reading Buddies.

Foster Care & Adoption Info Table: This Week!

Foster Care and Adoption Information Program at Vineland Public Library

There will be a free informational program about foster care and adoption with Cumberland County Recruiter, Shannon Perry. Shannon Perry is affiliated with Child Protection and Permanency, New Jersey’s child protection and child welfare agency.

The program will be held in the Community Event Room, located on the first floor of the library. Light refreshments will also be served. To register for this free program, please call the library’s Information Desk at (856) 794-4244, ext. 4243.

Pokémon League Program Next Week!

A Pokémon League provides fans of both the Pokémon Trading Card Game and the Pokémon video games with a local place to get together and have some fun. Using your own cards and Pokémon video games, you can play, trade, and even earn cool prizes! The best part is that you can do all this
with other Pokémon players who love collecting and playing just as much as you do.
 
Even if you don't know all the rules of the game, at a League you can learn game basics and, in no time, perfect your strategy! Joining a League is the best way to hone your skills to compete in Pokémon tournaments, from League Challenges all the way up to the World Championships. This program is funded by The Friends of the Vineland Public Library.

Pokemon Club Today!

Pokémon Club!
Children and teens ages 7 to 16 are invited to participate in a Pokémon Club at the Vineland Public Library. Join Senior Library Assistant Juni Ruiz for a discussion of all things Pokémon. Participants  are invited to bring their Nintendo DS handhelds, Pokémon games, trading cards, and anything else  related to Pokémon.

Book Discussion (Ages 9 & Up)

Children ages 9 & up are invited to a book discussion at the Vineland Public Library. The book to be discussed is The Fourteenth Goldfish by Jennifer L. Holm.

Family Movie Night & Craft!

Families are invited to a free movie, Open Season: Scared Silly, at the Vineland Public Library.
 After hearing a scary story about a werewolf by the campfire, domesticated Boog is terrified and decides not to go on the annual summer camping trip he takes with his friends until he knows the werewolf is gone. Determined to help Boog overcome his fears, Elliot and their woodland friends band together to uncover the mystery of the Wailing Wampus Werewolf.
Children will make a craft immediately following the movie.

VHS Student Art Show Tomorrow!

The annual Vineland High School Student Art Exhibit is being featured at the Vineland Public Library during the month of May. Student artists will display their work in a variety of media including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, pencil, pen & ink, air brush, printing, photography, sculpture and pottery. A reception to meet the artists and their teachers will be held on:

Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and honorable mentions in all media during the reception. Refreshments will be served in the Doris Tripp Memorial Room and the Community Event Room.

The Art Exhibit is an annual event to offer the community an opportunity to see the artistic talent of Vineland High School students. It is arranged by the Vineland High School Fine Arts Department. This
event provides students with the satisfaction of seeing their work displayed and helps prepare those going on to art school.
